Friday
We spent the class in the library today doing a Provincial Exam scavenger hunt in order to familiarize everyone with the exam.
Thursday
We spent some time going over any poetry terms and devices that people felt were unclear for them. Next we returned to Jabberwocky and pulled quotes from the poem related to the following themes: men and masculinity, violence, perseverance and good versus evil.
Wednesday
Today was a shortened block due to PLC. Once we did the quiz on the first half of Curious Incident and marked it, there was only enough time remaining to work on the graphic novel versions of Jabberwocky.
Tuesday
Once I handed out the progress reports, went over basic essay structure in preparation for next week's essay on Curious Incident. Next we returned to Jabberwocky and looked at the ballad stanza structure.
Monday
I handed back the synthesis pieces about "Holding Harley" and "Who I'm Not" at the beginning of the class. Following silent reading, we did a poetic device slam in order to practice some of the terms and devices featured on the exam. This Wednesday there will be a quiz on the first half of the Curious Incident novel.
