Monday, May 4 - Friday, May 8

Friday
We went down to the library today and picked up copies of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. As an introduction to the novel, we checked out a Ted Talk from Temple Grandin. Next week we get some more background information on Autism and Aspergers before we view the movie about Temple Grandin and begin the book. Feel free to start reading any time. There is a small during reading activity to complete so keep that in mind if you are one of those who reads a book in a day or so.
Thursday
Today was the last day of class time to work on the synthesis piece. The draft is due tomorrow.
Wednesday
After silent reading, we reviewed the synthesis criteria and time was provided to work on the draft.

Tuesday
Today we got into the embedding quotes practice in greater depth today. Don't worry if you find this difficult at first. The more you write with and include smaller snippets of quoted material, the easier it becomes. After the quote work we looked at some micro-fiction presentations. At the end of the class I went over the synthesis piece criteria. Tomorrow and Thursday there will be time provided to work on the synthesis writing.

Monday
Basically we went over what had and had not been done last week when I was away. Tomorrow we will get back into the presentations, go over the embedding quotes practice and clarify the synthesis piece that you must write about Holding Harley and Who I'm Not.
