September 11 - September 15

Friday
I have now completed a sketch of the Inquiry units for this year based on your preferences. We will be doing the Identity unit, but you can vote for Aliens, Life after death and Fake News. The top two will be the other units in addition to the Free inquiry where you can decide what you want to explore  - it just has to have a language arts elements to it somewhere.
Thursday
I was away today and I hope you have some creative writing (poems) to show me tomorrow!

Wednesday

Today is International Chocolate Day! ENJOY!
1. New parallelism practice.
2. Rubric for Death of a Toad - Sample paragraphs. Rubric.
3. Metaphors/simile/hyperbole - Top Gear - Write your own - abstract and concrete objects.

1. Go over yesterday's parallelism hand-out. Hand it in to me. 
2. Review 3 levels/questions for reading. 
3. Block G - we have the laptops for you to write your reading response for Death of a Toad. Block F - we are in the library using the laptops there to write a response to Death of a Toad.

1. Introduction to parallelism.
2. Introduction to "3 questions for reading" - What does the text say? How does the author say what they say? What is the BIG IDEA (theme or message about life, society, human behaviour)?
3. Listen, sketch, draft - response to "Death of a Toad".
